Frances and I flew into LA for a few mama/baby vacation days. Lots of wandering around town and eating at our favorite spots. I can’t believe these weren’t her first times at these places.. makes me feel like she’s been around forever. Musts for us: in & out, Gjelina, Verve coffee. And I’m really not one for sweets, but I always love going to get ice cream for Frances, so we bore the wait at Salt and Straw. Probably my favorite day was the day we finally met up with John. Frances and I drove to Palm Springs after a few days in LA and she was ALL smiles to see dad. Waving and giggling throughout breakfast at one of our favorite spots, Kings Highway. Then we hopped in our suits and played at the pool all day. Frances even napped in her stroller at the pool(!!!???). Sort of obsessed with famous Modern houses and Palm Springs is the place to see em. This is the Kaufmann house. It’s for sale, and if you’ve got 12 million, she’s yours! Who knew there were waterfalls in Palm Springs? Loved this perfect little hike. At our airbnb The Parker is filled with beautiful design. We had breakfast there and walked around the grounds drooling all morning. Musts in Palm Springs:
Ace Hotel. Grab dinner and a drink at Kings Highway and hang at the pool.
The Parker. Skip the over priced breakfast(sorry?) and just walk around the grounds and snag a drink at the lemonade stand.
Workshop is amazing design wise. And the food is ok. Everyone will tell you they love the food but I feel so spoiled with our food here in Chicago that it was nothing special. The design though. You have to go anyway.
Cheeky’s. You just have to. I’m cringing saying it, but just go. Get there early or you’ll wait. Have a bacon flight and breakfast negroni.
Get an airbnb with a pool. My suggestion is the Amado.
And what’s a trip with California with Sand Diego. These two photos are about a year apart on the same hike!
